Confidentiality and Patient Records

Patient data is kept on computers and the Practice is bound by the Data Protection Act. Confidentiality is respected at all times by all members of the team. Copies of the leaflets: “Your Records are Safe with Us” and “What we do with Your Medical Records” are kept in the waiting room.

Patient Rights and Responsibilities

All patients will be treated as individuals and shown courtesy and respect at all times. Everyone working in the Practice has a legal duty to maintain the highest level of confidentiality about patient information. Patients may receive care from other people in the NHS and, in order to work together for patient benefit we may need to share information about care. This is always strictly on a “need to know” basis only.

Any violence or abusive behaviour to any member of staff or towards any other person on the Practice premises will result in a patient’s removal from our Practice list. The Primary Care Trust will be informed and the patient transferred to the Bristol police for medical care.
